Navigating your affiliate network: Awin

Program Description

  1. Login to your Awin account

  2. From the navigation menu at the top of the screen, click Account > Overview

  3. This will bring you to your Program Overview - click into the textbox to make edits to your current program description

    1. Here’s where you want to showcase what your brand and program is all about, give a description of your company, highlight your commission rate and average order value, and specify your cookie duration here as well

  1. Click the Green Checkmark at the bottom of the box to save your changes before leaving the page

Keywords

*Awin’s technology scans the program overview to identify your keywords, include relevant terms here

  1. Go to Account > Overview

  2. From here you can make edits to your program overview including emphasizing your keywords

Text links

*A good rule of thumb is to have a text link for each of the following (or more): your homepage, shop all, best sellers, and links to any coupons you’ve set up

  1. From the navigation bar at the top, click on Toolbox > Link Builder

  2. Copy and paste the URL for the page you want to link in Destination URL

  3. Adding a unique Click Parameter will allow you to track the individual links’ performance, alternatively, adding a link to a general campaign’s tracking will aggregate the specific links’ performance with others in the same campaign

  4. You can limit a link’s visibility by entering affiliate names under Add Specific Publisher(s) if you want to create an exclusive link for an individual or group of affiliates

  5. You can save your new link as a URL or HTML with text

    1. Make sure if you are sharing this new link with affiliates you remind them to replace !!!id!!! with their publisher ID, unless you are sending the link via Awin’s Communication Center which will auto-populate the publisher’s ID in the link

Coupon Links

*Note: Coupon links do not need to be actual “coupons” ; they can be evergreen offers like “Free shipping on orders over $50” or “10% off your first order”. You can even set up coupons links to highlight your best sellers!

  1. From the navigation bar at the top, click on Toolbox > My Offers

  2. Click Add Coupon

  3. Enter the Coupon Code associated with the deal

  4. Give your new deal a Title and Description

    1. These don’t need to be out of the box, your coupon could be ‘10off’, with the title ‘Save 10%’ and description field ‘Get 10% off on your first purchase’

  5. Select the Start and End Date for your coupon, you have the option to select the precise time your coupon will go live or inactive here as well

  6. Select the Category of products that the coupon pertains to

  7. If the coupon is only available in certain regions, add Custom Region parameters

  8. If a coupon is only available to certain affiliates add them under Publisher Exclusivity

  9. Add the URL and any Terms or restrictions for the coupon link’s use

  1. Save your new coupon

Banners/Images

*Make sure banners include branding elements and a call to action. Keep in mind affiliates use these images as their promotional materials without modification so they must be effective ads in and of themselves, not requiring additional design elements or text by the affiliate.

See examples of well-crafted banners here: https://instapage.com/blog/banner-ads/

  1. Select Toolbox > My Creative

  2. You can add creatives in bulk with Batch Upload or individually with Add Creative

  3. Upload your image(s)

  4. Give your image a Title - this could be a product name for merchandise or ‘Homepage’ for a logo or general photo

  5. Write a brief Description - this can be short and generic so you can reuse it for other image uploads

  6. Add the URL associated with the image

  7. You have the option to limit the image’s visibility to certain publishers by selecting specific affiliates under Creative Visibility

  1. Make sure to Save your new creative

Promotions

*Promotions are distinctly separate from coupons in Awin. Promotions are deals that aren’t associated with a coupon code. For example, free shipping on orders over $50, that gets applied immediately when a customer’s cart exceeds $50 would require a promotion link, not a coupon link

  1. Login to your Awin account

  2. From the navigation bar at the top, click on Toolbox > My Offers

  3. Click Add Promotion

  4. Give your promotion a Title and Description

  5. Select the Start and End Date for the promotion

    1. To create an evergreen promotion, one without an end date, enter an arbitrary date in the far future, ex. Jan 1, 2080

  6. Select the Category of products that the promotion pertains to

    1. If it is a general promotion, like free shipping, select your brand’s main product category

  7. If the promotion is only available in certain regions, add Custom Region parameters

  8. If a promotion should only be visible to certain affiliates add them under Publisher Exclusivity

  9. Add the URL and any Terms or restrictions for the promotion’s use

  10. Save your new promotion

Product Feed

*A product feed is a CSV file of your inventory that gets uploaded to your network so affiliates can have a live view of what’s in stock and what they can promote

**There are two methods for uploading product feeds in Awin described in more detail on their site here

  1. Downloading a list (Awin’s recommended best practice)

    1. Read the full instructions here

    2. Use the API key in the following URL, replacing the example key (18a4da1c74680374b05647897c678f94) with your data feed API key:

      1. https://productdata.awin.com/datafeed/list/apikey/18a4da1c74680374b05647897c678f94

    3. This will generate a download URL containing only columns that have been mapped, as opposed to Create-a-Feed which will include all columns for a vertical

    2. Create-a-Feed (Direct via user interface)

    1. Read the full instructions here

    2. Login to your Awin account

    3. Select Tools > Create-a-Feed

    4. Select your Language for feeds in that language to appear

    5. Open the Feed List and select Advertisers’ feed and Save

    6. Click Next

    7. Here you can select specific columns or Select All

    8. Select the compression method and copy the URL that is generated

Adjusting Commission Rates

  1. From the home page, click on the Commission dropdown

  2. Click on Commission Manager

  3. Navigate to the Publisher Commission Rates tab

  4. Select Add Commission Rates to create a new rate

  5. Give your new rate a title that denotes which affiliates it will be applied to

  6. Select the desired adjusted commission rate and which affiliates to apply the new commission rate to. Awin allows you to add individual or “batch” commission rules

  7. Be sure to save your changes before refreshing or leaving the page
